Overview
Cross is a professor of mathematics in Brussels. He follows the call of his mentor, Professor Strand—a famous Nobel Prize winner—to Berlin. For the duration of his stay, Cross lives in his mentor's villa, where his assistant Nadja also lives. On his first day, Cross is summoned to the university. There he learns in passing that over 40 people have suddenly disappeared without a trace in the city.
