Biography

Hà Văn Cầu (c.1927 - 26th March 2016) was a Vietnamese ethnomusicologist, playwright, actor and Hán Nôm scholar. Renowned for his preservation efforts towards traditional Vietnamese performance arts, he archived an extensive body of plays written in Hán Nôm and campaigned to introduce these arts into theatre school. He was also an accomplished playwright, having authored several popular plays with hints of influence from chèo singing.
